A major means for characterizing noncoding conserved
sequences identified through the sequencing and
informatics component of this PGA is the generation
of genetically engineered
mice. Accordingly a variety of
putative regulatory elements of genes of cardiovascular
import have been or are in the process of being
studied in mice. The following list includes genes
that have been or are in the process of being
studied:
Animals that have been generated are freely available
to the general research community. Details about
the structure of the genetic manipulations and
steps to receive animals can be obtained by contacting
Edward Rubin. Genes whose regulation is being
studied in vivo and for which genetically engineered
mice are or will be available:
- ApoAI, CIII, AIV, AV
- PPAR
- Apo(a)
- NKX2.5
- GATA4
- GATA6
- ABCA1
- SOST1
- ABCG5
- ABCG8
- LDL receptor
